00:16 Welcome back, or welcome if this is your first listen, thank you for being here. I am excited to chat with you today about our move to Florida, our regrets, and this is gonna be part one, .
00:31 This is gonna be part one only because I really want Justin's intake on this, but he's not here right now and I'm really eager to, to record this.
00:39 I have actually a list of things I need to do and a short amount of time to do them all.
00:45 But I was like, you know what I wanna do? I just wanna talk to my people. I wanna like turn on my microphone and have this discussion cuz this is fun for me, .
00:55 And it's something I was looking forward to. It's on my mind and I'm, I'm kind of impulsive in that way where I'm like, if I wanna talk about this, I, I need to get it out cuz it's like just in my head also, I don't feel like Instagram is always the place for me to do that.
01:11 Which is, like I said, a reason why that I wanted to create this podcast, this platform, this area for us to have like open discussions that wasn't gonna be, you know, a hundred story frames long of tapping through of the, what feels like a long-winded or like a topic that it just isn't meant for Instagram or maybe I don't feel totally comfortable posting it on there because , I don't always know who's watching or like why they're watching.
01:37 And here I feel like I know you and I know you're here for good reasons. So thank you for being here again on my to-do list.
01:46 Well, let's just start off by saying I did not sleep great last night. Stayed up a little too late, actually way too late.
01:52 Oh boy. And then woke up and was exhausted. There was no morning routine. It was just a mess. But all of the girls, or Blake and Rosie are at preschool and I have quiet time.
02:05 Oh my gosh, it's so nice just to be like, like I literally made myself some toast with my, I almost said cookie butter.
02:11 It's like an oat meal. No, what is it called? Granola butter. I have granola butter that's just so delicious. And I just really got to like sit and eat it and enjoy it with a cup of coffee.
02:24 And I had already had my tea. I did have my morning tea, so that's why I'm like functioning . If I didn't have that, I would be, oh my gosh, I don't even know what would be happening.
02:33 So I had a little bit of time. And then also after I dropped them off, I did that. And I could not function without also cleaning up my house.
02:42 Just tidying up, I should say. Not necessarily clean , like the surfaces still need to be wiped down, but the, oh my gosh, there's the, the random junk that's just speckled all over.
02:54 It's not like it used to be when I could just be like, oh, I gotta clean off the kitchen counter.
02:57 Now it's like there's a shoe next to the refrigerator like that does not belong. And then just like random, there's toys on the counter and there's clothes on the kitchen table and there's clean laundry folded over there, but dirty laundry laying, you know, I don't have to tell you.
03:14 So I literally told Al Alexa, I don't want her to hear me. I told her to play some music for me.
03:21 I think she got through three songs and my tidying was done. Is the house clean? Mm not, not really, but it's tidy enough that I feel like I can start other tasks because I don't know about you, but I have trouble with productivity.
03:34 If my house is trashed, like I just can't focus. It bothers me. It, I, I feel unsettled something I'm working on.
03:43 And like I said, it doesn't have to be spotless for me to like get start working. Like I'm looking right now.
03:47 I got, actually do you wanna know ? I see a pair of shoes of mine, . I went to actually put them on to leave the house with the girls.
03:56 I'm barefoot. They're like slip on sneakers. I was like whatever. And I live in Florida so I don't always wear socks.
04:02 I put my feet in and I feel wet, mushy balls of, I was like, oh my gosh, what is in these shoes and how long has it been there?
04:14 Because I, I don't, I think I wore them four or five days ago. Anyways, strawberries like chewed up strawberries or strawberries that like had a bite out of 'em, but they were like, they're mush.
04:24 You know what I, I did . I didn't even clean those up cuz I was like, I don't wanna deal with this right now.
04:29 And yeah, there's like red strawberry, they're white tennis shoes. Like I love my white sneaker. So, okay, you get that point.
04:35 Now on the agenda for today, I wrote down order a new planner cuz New Year need a new planner. I love my passion planners.
04:43 I've been, this is my, currently the one I have open is like, I think my fifth 20 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22. I think this is my sixth passion planner.
04:52 Holy cow. So I'm gonna be purchasing my seventh. They actually do have a free download if you wanna print them out and you could like use their planner for free.
05:03 I think they still offer that. I love the actual book. I need it, I need everything organized. I'm not about to be printing stuff out.
05:10 I think it, I spend like $30 and , I break down When I spend money, I kinda like break down the price sometimes where I'm like, well $30 divided by 12 months only like just over $2 a month.
05:23 So it's really . Does anyone else do that? Or like if I buy a shirt, a dress maybe let's say, and I'm like, I'll probably wear this like four or five times a summer and if I paid $60 for the dress, that means it's like $10 a wear.
05:37 If I wear, I don't know, why am I my buying works that way? I don't know. But I need new planner.
05:41 I love this one because it has these, oh it has just so much that I love about it. So it has this week's focus.
05:47 You can fill that out. It also has like a, an area for you to list out good things that happened, which might seem small, but I noticed when I do it, I'm like, oh, I had a good week.
05:58 Look at all, look at all the stuff on my good things that happened this week. Cuz sometimes a whole week will go by and you know, your, like your house didn't get cleaned.
06:05 You ti it but it's not clean or it's just hard for you at the end of a week or even at the end of a day to just acknowledge all the good that happened because there is other like, not so good stuff mixed in.
06:17 So this way being able to read it and look at it, it just helps with positive mindset. So if you're into that, like me, this is, this plan is awesome.
06:24 It also has like a quote of the week and then it kind of like breaks down the quote into more like like an actionable step for you to like apply it to your life.
06:32 And then there's just like lots of areas to take notes jot things down, doodle, I don't know what you what you do with your planners, but I actually write down, this is another side of my brain you're gonna see.
06:45 I like to write down my list of what I have to do. And then in like the calendar days, I write down like what I did that day, like appointments and stuff.
06:54 But then also I write down like my done list in addition to checking things off the list, I also write down what I did because sometimes there'll be things that I'm like, oh, I organized some files on my full and on my Google drive or something.
07:10 And that wasn't on my to-do list, but I did it and I need credit , I need credit for it mentally.
07:15 Like I need that sense of achievement. Like I did something and I like to write down on which day. Okay, so planner obviously very important to me.
07:23 That is on my list. Get anyone. I have a meeting that I'm really excited about and I'm gonna tell you first, and this is another thing I hope to do with my podcast squad, podcast family, podcast peeps.
07:36 What are we gonna call ourselves? Let's brainstorm some names. But I hope to share things with you first. Like I said before, going on Instagram and blasting it out and like I do get nervous to post things on there.
07:50 Some like either like not personal stuff, like maybe even a personal goal that I have. It's like kind of scary to like put out there.
07:56 We're here, it feels a little bit safer. Like I feel like I'm just like voice messaging a friend, which I also really like to do.
08:03 Just send voice notes. I also do that in dms. Like I'll just, it's just easier than typing it out. And also my, my crazy brain, you're learning about it functions better when I can just talk through it.
08:15 When I'm putting words, when I'm typing with my thumbs, it just doesn't come out the same. So anyways, I have a meeting with drum roll please.
08:23 Soul cbd, . We are working on a new collaborative product, a new product that does not exist, but we're making it exist actually.
08:37 There's kind like a two, this is a two-parter. There's a couple things we're working on. And you will see 2023 is gonna be a big year.
08:44 Oh my gosh. So that's just like a little sneak peek. We can dive into that a little bit more or as it progressed.
08:50 I haven't even had the meeting yet, so maybe I'll do a meeting recap with you. I, I actually have to send out this week's bump day newsletter.
08:59 I send a bump day. There's like a Wednesday email every Wednesday, every week. It started when I was pregnant and I was like, oh, it was like a, it was kinda like a, what's it called?
09:10 Like a week, A weekly update, like a pregnancy update. Okay, I'm 32 weeks pregnant, here's what I'm craving, here's what made me nauseous or here's what here's like three things every pregnant woman should have in their third trimester.
09:24 Like I just was on that when I was live in the moment of each week of pregnancy, it was so easy for me to be like, this is what's relevant in pregnancy right now.
09:33 I know someone else is gonna be dealing with this. Or maybe, you know, they're earlier in their pregnancy or maybe they can relate to it.
09:40 And then I did postpartum ones and now I mix it up. I like sprinkle some pregnancy topics in postpartum, motherhood just like tips, mom hacks, all that stuff.
09:52 And put, I'm not going to spam you. I will also put like any sales that are going on promotions, things that I've bought recently that I are worth sharing.
10:02 Honestly, anything that's worth sharing will be in those emails. And if you're not subscribed, you can call my website to get on that list.
10:10 And then some things that I was gonna post today and I have to film some stuff. Okay. , Skincare. I have been loving my eye gels.
10:20 I don't if you've seen them on my stories. I, I've worked out in them just because I, I like to put them on in the morning.
10:28 They feel good and I, I can see but more feel a difference. Like I feel I use 'em on my under eyes.
10:35 I also use 'em on my forehead. I feel like my skin is lifted. I feel like it's more vibrant and more glowy, but also, I don't use the word tight.
10:46 Like my skin's not tighter, but it just feels like lighter. I, it's hard to put in words, but I got the three pack.
10:53 It was on sale. I'll have to put the link in the show notes for you. New documentary I started watching.
10:59 I like talking about like what shows I've been watching recently. I did finish Pepsi Wears My Jet and Wow, it, it's a good watch.
11:06 I did. I, like I said, I in the last episode, I was hesitant to watch it, but I'm glad I did.
11:12 I'm really glad I did. Especially like being advertising or like graphic design and you know, seeing the people in the industry and the higher ups and like the corporate world, like it was very interesting.
11:23 And also like the guys like, I don't wanna give it away, but basically I just feel like the guys that are high up in corporate are just like jerks.
11:32 I don't know, I don't know any like nice persons who's working in corporate America and like doing really well and doing nice things for people and is just a kind person.
11:41 , okay, so you can make, you can watch it and make your own judgements. But I started watching Jonah Hill has a documentary and I actually started watching this in the sauna at my chiropractor's office and the, the screen broke in the sauna.
11:57 I was like, oh my God, did it get too hot in here? The, whatever the screen shut off, but I could still hear it.
12:03 So the documentary essentially is him interviewing his therapist because Jonah Hill has been to several therapists over his lifetime or career.
12:12 I don't know, I have to like go re finish watching it and maybe even re-watch it from the beginning. But he said this is the only therapist that he has felt good after leaving that has made beneficial changes to his life.
12:26 He just went on to say like, this guy's like the best and he's gonna interview him. And he did. And he's a cool guy.
12:32 Like he's old. He has Parkinson's. I I, I'm like, how old is he? I don't wanna put a number. I'm really bad at guessing ages too.
12:41 So, but just by his voice, like I said, I couldn't see it. I did see a little bit of it when I like pressed play, but then the screen went black.
12:51 But he's an older man and I just feel like what he has to say is really gonna be helpful and important and I can't wait to watch the rest of that.
12:59 So Jonah Hill, he's the guy from super bad, you know who I'm talking about. He's in super bad. He's in knocked up.
13:04 He wait, is he, he's in all of our movies from like 2006 to 2010 maybe. You know, that was his error.
13:14 We know him, we love him. Okay, Jonah Hill. So speaking of the chiropractor, I went, I had my x-rays done for the first time in a year.
13:24 Like she took an x-ray. We've been working on my alignment. I was supposed to be doing these stretches for my neck and I haven't, so I don't know if we'll see much improvement.
13:35 Hopefully like I'm losing a curve in my neck, which is not cool. Gotta work on that. But I also got an adjustment and then I had booked a sauna appointment, which I forgot about until I was there and they're like, oh, for your sauna appointment.
13:48 And I was like, what? It was kind of nice surprise because I was already there. Justin already had the girls.
13:53 So I was like, I really don't have an excuse to just jet out and like skip this appointment, like I'm here.
13:59 So I went in and I'm so glad I did. It was super relaxing. And the, this was only my second time using Asana and I am still shocked at how it doesn't feel that hot.
14:11 I , that sounds crazy to say, but it's 130 degrees. It goes over that. It's like 130 something degrees and I was never like, I'm so hot, I'm dying.
14:22 Get me outta here. Like it never felt like that at all. It was, it's just so serene and relaxing. And there's, you can change the lights.
14:31 It, it's an infrared sauna, but you can also do the, I don't think it's called infa blue, but there's a blue light that has different benefits.
14:40 Like anti-aging. I did the pain relief one. There's a detox one. There's, yeah, so there's so many. Great, I'm waiting to feel the benefits.
14:49 I actually, I just, there's a relaxing one so you can go in just to relax if that's your goal. If you have really bad period cramps or joint pain.
14:59 I'm just, I'm, I'm not an expert on saunas but I'm like, it's cool, it's interesting to me. I like the relaxing benefits but also the anti all the benefits like hello, give them all to me.
15:08 Yes, please, like, subscribe, like yes I wanna, I wanna be part of this. So yeah, it feels really good. I felt super relaxed after and I didn't feel any pain in my body.
15:20 Not that I had anything significant going into it, but I did feel so good after since we moved to Florida, I did find a natural or homeopathic, I dunno if that's the right word, a more natural doctor.
15:36 They do not. It's just like not your average doctor's office. They try to use like homeopathic remedies before they prescribe you something.
15:44 And I just appreciate that. I also found a holistic dentist, which has been interesting. Like I'm learning so much from them.
15:51 I'm like, wow, dentistry is very invasive. Like oh my gosh, I don't wanna talk about teeth right now cuz I don't actually enjoy going to the dentist.
16:02 . All right, we're gonna get right into this now with Florida, moving to Florida. Regrets, regrets. But also like what I wish I knew, would it have changed my mind?
16:15 Did we not think about this enough? Did we not look around throughout the state? Because it is a large state.
16:26 I think it's the third largest, nope, fourth. I think it's like Alaska. Everyone always forgets about Alaska. Alaska, Texas, California, Florida maybe.
16:35 I don't know. But anyways, did we choose the right place for us? Did we, could we have stayed during a different time of the year?
16:43 Would we have made a different decision? What? Yeah. Okay, let's just get into it. All right. My first regret that is really just, it's coming now like over a year later I am feeling this regret and I think it's for a few few reasons but I threw away, gave away donated gifted so much of our stuff up north because we didn't want to have to move it down here.
17:15 We thought we'll just replace it or like it, it felt so good in the moment to have this like clean slate mentality.
17:24 Let's start fresh, right? Like let's, we had a vacuum cleaner for eight years and I was like, it's eight years old, we'll get a new vacuum cleaner.
17:37 But there was nothing wrong with ours. It actually was a really great vacuum cleaner. I took good care of it.
17:41 It was a shark, not like a fancy Dyson. I feel like sharks are still like up there in quality and like whatever.
17:48 We got rid of it and now, now we're here and we got a new one and I hate it and I'm just like missing my old vacuum and I'm like, should I have just kept it?
17:56 Like why did I think to do that? , that's just one thing. And then like Christmas decorations. So when the girls and I are like going through our Christmas stuff, it's funny cuz I love, I love when you take out your Christmas stuff and you're like, oh I forgot I bought that last, I remember like there's so many little things like that and anything that wasn't sentimental to me When we were in Massachusetts going through our Christmas stuff, I was like if this isn't sentimental or like IR irreplaceable or we literally just bought it and I really, really love it, then we're just gonna put it in a pile to like donate.
18:37 And now it's like what did I make the right decision? Because there was lots of little just like things I would put around the house that were like funny or like basically I came with like very minimal decorations and now I feel like ah, I gotta like go buy decorations.
18:55 I don't know, just stuff like that. And then also this last part, I feel like I didn't save enough of the girls like baby clothes or even like a small toy.
19:10 We do have like a few like ala has like her old old little stuffed elephant that is like falling apart that we just keep and she's got like a newer version of it that she actually carries around or not carries around, sleeps with cuddles, with whatever.
19:25 But it was just such a hard because like ALA's stuff got passed down to Rosie and we did like get rid of stuff here and there.
19:31 Like anything about stains, you know, obvious like would that be weird to keep like a stained onesie just because it was like so small and part of your baby's life?
19:40 I don't know. I'm typically not super into the sentimental, but when it comes to my girls, ugh, I'm like, ugh, weeping.
19:50 Like this was her first sock. Like not, I'm not that bad but like every doodle that Ayla draws, I'm like, I, I can't throw this away.
20:02 She can now write like I love you mom. And I'm like, oh my god, I can't throw weight now I have a hundred pieces of paper that say I love you mom on it.
20:09 . Okay, so basically all of ALA's stuff got passed down to Rosie Rosie's stuff and ALA's stuff got passed down to Blake.
20:17 And Blake grew so fast. She went from newborn to basically like a toddler size just because she was a big girl and I loved every bit of her roles.
20:28 But I was very upset that I didn't have a little bitty baby for a full year. I had like a toddler.
20:35 I felt like she grew so fast and so now she's one year old and that's when we're like, we're moving to Florida, let's go through everything.
20:44 And she was wearing size like 18 months. So all the newborn stuff, all the three months obviously was not in her closet anymore.
20:52 And I was just being very, not literal, what's the word? Like to the point I was like, well these clothes don't fit.
21:00 I wasn't thinking like, I always like this one set of pajamas just like made you wanna cry thinking about it.
21:08 But I did give a lot of stuff to friends. Like anything that was like, oh this is good quality. This is so soft.
21:13 I love it makes me so sad thinking about it. I gave away just about everything. I mean I have like some of their hospital hats I really, and like they're hustle bracelet like that stuff.
21:23 But I, and like, like I said, the toys. So anyways that has been a regret of mine of like why do we do this?
21:31 Like household items that we were like we'll just replace it , why just bring it and replace it when you get there?
21:39 I don't know. We, we were trying to like say well we could save money on the moving cost, which moving is just expensive and what are you gonna say of like a thousand dollars depending on like, I don't know anyone who saves money moving like it is an expense it is an expense to move all of your belongings across the country.
21:59 It, there's just no way around it. So that thousand dollars, let's say we saved a thousand dollars cuz we didn't have as much stuff but we have to buy a vacuum.
22:08 Christmas decorations new bedding. Did I get rid of our bedding? Yeah I didn't even bring, I brought like my cozy earth sheets and I was like, we'll get a new comforter because ours, we've had it for a few years.
22:22 Like they get kind of dingy or like I won't go with our new, you get the point. So all the new stuff we've had to buy , if it is greater than the money that we saved, it's like it wasn't worth it.
22:35 All right. So kind of a regret. But also it's hard to say like anytime I have a regret, you actually don't know what it would be like if you chose the other option.
22:46 You don't know. So when I, I used the word regret loosely. Okay. Because it was really nice moving down here and it having an empty house and no clutter.
22:59 And even when our stuff finally got here and we put it all away, like there's still like the toys situation was manageable.
23:07 Like we had less stuff. Like it felt really good and then the nostalgia like sentimental part creeps in and you're like, oh remember that little, yeah.
23:17 So anyways, moving on. The next thing is basically just traffic congestion and the surplus of people that live here. , at least in Sarasota, Florida, this place is booming.
23:31 There are new houses being built every day. New complexes like communities are being built, communities with hundreds of houses are being built right now.
23:44 That means hundreds of families are moving down here. Like every day there are apartment buildings going up with hundreds of units.
23:55 It and there's just more and more and more people coming here which duh we came here too. So I always say, I'm like well we can't be, I, I feel like I can't be mad at that cuz like I came here too so I'm part of the problem, I'm contributing to this issue.
24:14 But I will say we moved into a house that was already here. We didn't like build a new house. I don't know if that makes a difference.
24:20 So there's a lot of people, which means when you leave to go somewhere, all of the people are also leaving to go somewhere and the roads are actually not wide enough.
24:34 Like they need to build more lanes. There's construction going on, there's just always traffic, which my sister warned me about.
24:39 She's like, there's always traffic. There's always traffic. . So that has been an adjustment cuz Justin and I lived in Hubbards, Massachusetts, it's a tiny town, you can look it up.
24:52 There is one flashing light. I think there might have been two but there was never traffic. Are you kidding? The only traffic you would have is a tractor driving down the road in front of you and they'd be too slow and you'd have to wait and for a good time to pass or if there was like snow on the road, like everyone's obviously driving slowly but no traffic, none.
25:14 So coming from that down here to major congestion, also another like thing that goes into this is ala started school and we have to be outta the house at a certain time.
25:26 We have to be at a place at a certain time, which when we were in Massachusetts, no one was in school.
25:32 We didn't have anywhere to go unless there was like an appointment or something. So I feel like it's hard again, hard to compare because like if the girls were still little, I wouldn't be too worried about the traffic cuz I wouldn't be leaving the house as much.
25:46 Does that make sense? But yeah, it's really congested. Places are busy like going to target like the li there's always, there's always people at Target.
25:54 You always have to like search for a parking spot or the mall. Like I'm like what is everyone doing on Tuesday?
26:00 Why are we all at the mall? Like what , I always wonder that. Or I remember when I was teaching and I would be out like for some reason I'd have the day off or like I took like a sick day or had an appointment and I'd be out in public and I'd be like, why?
26:16 Why aren't you guys at work? Like why like this much of the world isn't at work on Tuesday at 10:30 AM Like that always baffled me and I feel like now current day it's more normal because we, it's such, it's so much more digital world and like zoom meetings and you know, everything's digital which is kind of cool.
26:37 Okay. So yeah tra traffic and congestion is something we were not aware of and that made me think like should we have like, I'm trying to think cause we did come down.
26:45 So this is how it all started in 2021, which is crazy because it wasn't that long ago. I rented a house in January to February, a whole month Airbnb and we took like a vacation that wasn't like a super vacationy vacation.
27:00 It was like we just continued living our life. But in Florida and I, I recommend that if you're planning on moving somewhere, trial it out.
27:07 Like go there for three weeks, four weeks if you can swing it and then do regular things like go to the grocery store, cook a meal find a playground and bring your kids there.
27:19 Go for a stroller, walk, find a local library. Like do the things that you would normally do. And that's what we did, I did with the girls and that's how I fell, fell in love with this place and this town and the not, I don't wanna say attractions but like just what, what Florida is with like I love the sunshine in January and being able to just not worry about putting socks on my girl's feet, I could just like I didn't have to worry about them being cold or really what they were wearing.
27:48 Like it was, I was like wow, this is nice. Like I can put them in the car and there's a lot, there's a lot to do.
27:56 But also like the small mundane tasks of you know, doing laundry or running out to target or I got to see what that was like and I think that's really important when you're considering moving.
28:08 But it was in January and I'm like, would it be different if I chose to come in July or maybe October, November?
28:17 Which is gonna bring me to another point. the heat. We knew Florida was hot and I was a hundred percent willing and still am .
28:28 I will take the hot mother effing heat of the summer over the crazy cold of the winter in New England.
28:38 The absolute frigid weather with the blizzards and the icy roads and the wet cold and the dark, I'm sorry going off but like those were the dark days.
28:54 Those are like we're staying inside. We might not leave the house for three or four days. Where are we gonna go?
29:00 Like let's just be cozy, let's just bunker down. So I was like, you know what, I'm gonna trade that winner for a Florida winner AKA July, August.
29:10 That's our bunker. We're gonna do a lot of indoor things. We're gonna sign up for some indoor gymnastics camp. We are gonna be in the library, we are not gonna be out in the sun and anything we do outside, we'll be between the hours of like seven and 9:00 AM and then at night like after dinner and I know I'm gonna be sweating like I mentally prepared for that.
29:30 But last year was our first full summer and our pool was just a hole in the ground with dirt. Like it was not done.
29:40 It made it, it really hard to keep the girls entertained. Like, like the same, the same struggles that you go through at in Massachusetts are in the north in the cold winter when like you gotta keep coming up with things to do indoors because it's too cold or it's getting dark out or you know, it's the baby's sleeping, you wanna stay inside or is al whatever.
30:03 You know the drill. You have to get creative or yeah like you have to be thinking a different way. Like what are we gonna do today or tomorrow?
30:13 okay guys, let's bake some cupcake muffins. Like yeah so also another thing with the heat, I did not appreciate that it stays hot summery until November.
30:26 Like I, you are anticipating a break and I think that's what it was for me. I was anticipating like, like some crisp air, you know in October Halloween trick-or-treating like that's what my body in my mind has been conditioned to think that in those months, like the weather's gonna change it most certainly does not change.
30:48 It is 90 degrees every day every day . Which like I said, I'm still getting used to it and maybe that's my season of like I need a break cuz that wa in New England.
30:59 Look I took that break in January, February cuz I had had enough of the winter and he wanted to come down to Florida so maybe, and Justin loves hunting season so that's what I told him.
31:08 I was like we should live in Florida and for you know a month, get a house up north in the fall and then enjoy the best season of Massachusetts like the summer, like early fall time.
31:21 That was just a thought. So anyways, do we regret moving here cuz of the heat? Ooh no. Was I ready for it also?
31:28 No. Like I, I don't know if anyone could be, I tried to prepare myself but you still are gonna learn things and discover and it's essentially, it's really cool.
31:38 Other things about Florida that I'm learning in season is a term used all the time and I do not know what it means because there's always something in season.
31:47 So basically they'll say like, oh it's gonna get real busy during season, during in season. Oh in season is coming oh D in or everyone everyone's here for in season.
31:57 I'm like okay when is in season? Because I feel like people come, I think in my mind in season is when the snowbirds come and they move, basically move down here to be warm until the snow melts and then they go back.
32:13 So for some people in season starts right before Christmas and they come down before Christmas and spend like the holidays here.
32:19 But most of 'em do holidays with family, grandkids, kid, whoever. And then they come down like January and stay till March, April, may.
32:29 But in my head like I feel like something is literally always in season cuz before that you've got the holiday season, you've got things are picking up, we got you know Halloween straight to Thanksgiving and then Christmas and let me tell you, Florida people go all out for holidays.
32:43 They do not miss a beat. They are invested in their decorations and they care. Which is so fun because I get it like when you live in the cold in the north, it is not enjoyable to go outside and put lawn ornaments that are gonna get covered with snow.
33:00 Number one hanging Christmas lights when it's 25 degrees you can't even feel your fingertips. And I've never done this, I just have watched Justin do it like it's really hard to motivate yourself to go out and then you're gonna have to clean 'em up after and you know they're gonna be frozen to the side of your house.
33:17 Or like we had those like blow up ones and they'd be deflated, it would snow and then they'd be bury by snow.
33:25 I would have to shovel 'em out. They'd be fur rosen to the ground. Oh my gosh. So I get it.
33:31 It is definitely easier down here but people love it like you can, we used to pay in Massachusetts to drive around these like Christmas light shows.
33:42 It's like you stay in your car cuz it's freezing out. You'd be like bring hot cocoa and you pay $20 I wanna say.
33:49 And you drive around and they have all these AR lights set up and like funny little like a gingerbread scene whatever in Florida, that's every neighborhood we can just drive, we can just get in the car and literally go through our neighborhood in our streets and just look at Christmas lights.
34:06 Everyone does such a great job. I applaud that. Thank you. When you have kids it just becomes even so much more magical and I just appreciate it.
34:14 I know how much work goes into it. But yeah, so anyways that season things are busy things, stuff sells out at Target and you know, all I'm just talking about Target every season the the shelves are empty.
34:27 If you wait till October 1st to buy your Halloween decorations, everything's gone. People are so excited to celebrate I think cuz they're like over summer they're like ready for fall holidays, which is a nationwide thing.
34:38 So that's in season and then in season before that is like everyone's back to school. So now all the kids are on the roads and the school buses and the parents and the school drop off so it's busy.
34:49 Then before there is summer, which I guess is the slow season but people are still living here and they're all flocking to the indoor activities.
34:58 So those become busy. And then like the spring is when there's, you know, spring break, everyone's down here for spring break.
35:06 There's lots of events in the spring, weddings, people getting married, I'm trying to think of what else happened in the spring.
35:14 But yeah, the spring break mostly and people like are graduating college and they're going on trips so I don't understand in season I really don't .
35:24 Another thing that I learned, I didn't even write this down but I took, I take note of it every time people down here and I'll have to maybe do another podcast episode about like what's different .
35:35 I mean there's a lot of things that are different about Florida people here but they say welcome in if you walk into a store, welcome in, welcome in.
35:43 I feel like that's a southern thing but for me being from the north, I'm like, that sounds like an incomplete sentence.
35:50 Welcome into my store. Welcome into the mall. Like welcome to our restaurant. Like welcome in, welcome in. I don't know, now I'm thinking about how I started this podcast.
36:03 I said welcome. I guess to them welcome is an incomplete sentence. I don't , I'm thinking too much about it but yeah, welcome in.
36:11 It's something I got, I got used to or like I'm trying this don't get used to but it makes me smile every time I hear.
36:16 Cause like okay, welcome in, welcome in. Maybe you say that and you live up north. Please share. I would love to talk about this more because I had never heard it and I , the first time I did it I was like just looked there like I was waiting for her to finish and I was like oh welcome in to the store.
36:35 Like I, I don't, yeah, okay, so regrets. There are some but would I change it? Probably not. I just now moving forward if or when we move from this house I will, oh see this is so hard cuz I don't wanna be a hoarder and I'm like, if I were to move and have to do that decluttering situation again, I guess I will just focus on like the girls stuff and then household products that also are my favorites.
37:08 Like I just have to remember. Yes, just because you can replace it doesn't mean you should. That's a good, that's how we're gonna end this.
37:14 Yes. Okay. Just because you can replace it doesn't mean you should. All right. Thank you for joining me. Part two coming soon.
37:20 I can't not wait. I'm gonna ask Justin this question, like what do you regret? And he's gonna be like everything or a lot of things, not that he regrets, but just like things that he misses, it might turn into like, I miss my home .
37:36 Or maybe I'll do like things that he is learned, regrets that he has about moving and what he misses most.
37:42 Okay, so stay tuned for that. I'll talk to you soon. Have a great day. Bye.
